General Manager
Zach is an ecological organic farmer, agroforester, and microbial alchemist. with a deep passion for the natural world. His journey into ecological farming began in South India, where he witnessed farmers cultivating complex, food-rich ecosystems using only local resources. That experience sparked a lasting commitment to agroecology.
Over the past decade, Zach has immersed himself in permaculture design, with a focused interest in agroforestry, Korean natural farming, and syntropic farming systems. His work blends creativity with ecological intelligence, emphasizing regenerative practices and resilient food systems.
Central to his philosophy is the understanding that biodiversity drives resilience—research shows that when more than eight plant families coexist within a system, they begin functioning cohesively. In these environments, plants can support one another, even to the point of sacrificing themselves to restore balance and health. This mirrors Zach’s approach of guiding systems toward forest-like patterns, where roots, soil biology, and ecological succession provide everything crops need to thrive.
Zach’s journey with Chiles Group began by designing and installing self-sustaining gardens at Sandbar Restaurant, providing the culinary team with a diverse array of organically grown herbs, spices, fruits, vegetables, and edible flowers.
He continues to work as a General Manager at Gamble Farm Organics where he applies these principles on a larger scale. In his current role, he is focused on strengthening plant relationships to naturally reduce pests and disease, expanding native plant integration, and transitioning from traditional organic inputs to on-site blended and fermented bioavailable fertilizers.
